On Saturday March 10th from 9am-12:30pm Greenagers, the Great Barrington Land Conservancy, the Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire, and Wild and Scenic Westfield River will be bringing a FREE film festival to the Triplex in downtown Great Barrington. The festival is a celebration of all things river, in particular the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Federal Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Three out of five Greenagers Trail Crews started work today: two Berkshire County crews and one Columbia County crew. The remaining two crews begin work a week from today. We are so excited for this year’s crews and the fun, challenging, and rewarding work ahead of them.
We will continue to update this site with news on the crews’ whereabouts and work, so continue to check back in!
“It’s the size of a mini-bus, there’s no way we’re moving it” asserted Elia Del Molino, Trails Coordinator at Greenagers. “I’ll take that bet” countered Mike Leavitt, Trails and Outreach Coordinator from Berkshire Natural Rources Council (BNRC). The friendly bet, which Elia ultimately lost, was in reference to a 10-ton boulder—a sizable piece of gneiss that would be moved by one person wielding but one grip hoist. The situation was one of the many impressive and daunting challenges poised at last week’s Greenager Grip Hoist Training.

Greenagers hosts Community Volunteer Days on the third Saturday of the every month. This Saturday, November 17th, we will be working at the beautiful Berkshire Botanical Gardens, removing invasives. We will meet at the Greenagers office (33 Rossetter St, Great Barrington) at 8:30 a.m. and return around 2:30. Lunch provided!

This Saturday, October 20th, we will be working on the trails at the beautiful Mount Hunger Preservation, owned by the Monterey Preservation Land Trust. We will meet at the Greenagers office (33 Rossetter St, Great Barrington) at 9 a.m. and return around 1:30. Apple cider donuts and cider for all!
