The Berkshire Community Market is now closed for the season. Please look for updates at the BCM website and the BCM Facebook page (as well as the Greenagers website, of course). Greenagers will hire three youth to work at the market this season. Applications will be available April 12th. Please contact us if you are interested in applying.
The Berkshire Community Market is a new farmers’ and artisans’ Saturday morning market in Great Barrington (11 am – 3 pm). Founded by Jenny Hersch and Suzy Konecky to provide more vendors with the opportunity for a Saturday, central market, the market is “powered by Greenagers.” The market manager is Greenager Rachel Moriarty and an additional three Greenagers are hired to help with market set-up and break-down and to man tables for those vendors who are not able to get to the market themselves. On-farm work is also, happily, necessary. Youth gain new customer service and management skills and learn all about the process of bringing food to the customers (and customers to the food). Youth are paid $8.50-$9.50/hour.
Thank you to the 2012 Market Makers : Rachel Moriarty, Kat Lister, Stefan Zdziarski, and Jackie Martinez. Also thank you to their fellow Greenagers: Kelt Wilska, Graham Hagenah, Jamie Waterman and Catherine Twing who lent helping hands throughout the season. Huge thank yous to our mighty vendors!
