Will Conklin was raised and educated in southern Berkshire County, graduating from Mount Everett High School. Will lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia for four years, where he was enrolled in the History of Science and Technology department at the University of King’s College. He returned home to Sheffield in 2005, completing his B.A. in History at the University of Massachusetts. From 2006-2009, Will led five summer programs for Landmark Volunteers, working with 12-13 youth on community service projects. These projects included working at a no-kill animal shelter; archiving historic artifacts on Swan’s Island, ME; and working on a progressive cattle ranch in Colorado, and forestry service work in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. Will, his wife Amelia, and their daughter Vera, run Sky View Farm and are 4th generation stewards of the property. The farm produces pasture raised meat, dairy, and native lumber products. Alongside farming and woods work, Will is Executive Director of Greenagers, a local environmental youth organization. Greenagers’ mission is “Youth working to strengthen the environment and our community”. Greenagers, collaborating with other community organizations, has pioneered a vibrant youth employment program in the greater Berkshire region as well as furthering youth volunteering, service learning, and climate change education in the region. Greenagers is the owner and steward of the 100 acre historic homestead April Hill Conservation and Education Center in South Egremont, MA. Will sits on the board of directors of Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area and the Berkshire County Farm Bureau.
