	Saturday, July 10, 2010</p>
<p>	While <span class="il">the</span> rest of Berkshire County did its best <span class="il">to</span> survive record-breaking<br />
	heat last week, a mighty team of Greenager volunteers, led by <span class="il">the</span> great Will<br />
	Conklin, were down at <span class="il">the</span> Housatonic River Walk spreading 85 tons of surface<br />
	material over a half mile of trail-with nothing more than wheelbarrows,<br />
	buckets, shovels, rakes, and willpower that just wouldn&#39;t quit.</p>
<p>	Five hundred man/woman-hours later, River Walk has a brand new trail and by<br />
	<span class="il">the</span> look of things, planet Earth has a rising can-do generation <span class="il">to</span> fix <span class="il">the</span><br />
	problems <span class="il">the</span> rest of us are leaving behind.</p>
<p>	Thank you Rails-<span class="il">to</span>-Trails Conservancy and National Park Service Rivers,<br />
	Trails &amp; Conservation Assistance for <span class="il">the</span> financial support. And thank you<br />
	Robbie, Henry, Jen, Jamison, Nicole, Dakota, Sam, Christian, Ben, Matt,<br />
	Nate, Audrey, Demitri, Charlotte, Kayla, Laura and Nina-for one of River<br />
	Walk&#39;s finest moments. It was an honor and privilege <span class="il">to</span> work alongside you.</p>

<p>	</font><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="2">Ashley Falls, Mass. &#8211; June 1, 2010 &#8211; The </font><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="2"><i>Sheffield Times</i></font><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="2"> will celebrate local journalism on Saturday, June 19, at a garden party to be held in Ashley Falls. The event, entitled &ldquo;What&#39;s Black and White and Read All Over?,&rdquo; will run from 4 to 6 pm, and is a fund-raiser for the </font><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="2"><i>Sheffield Times</i></font><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="2">, a community newsletter covering local Sheffield and Ashley Falls news. Editors of other South County community newsletters have been invited, along with noted Berkshire County journalists.</p>
<p>	&ldquo;People talk a lot about &#39;eating local&#39; as a way to support local agriculture,&rdquo; said Andrea Scott, co-editor of the Sheffield Times. &ldquo;We are promoting the idea of &#39;reading local,&#39; too, because we publish news and events essential to our community.&rdquo; </p>
<p>	&ldquo;Champagne Berkshire Bellinis&rdquo; and hors d&#39;oeuvres will be served to vintage music on the Victrola in the beautiful gardens by Ashley Pond, once the historic marble quarry that provided cladding for the Washington Monument. The garden party is a rare opportunity to see this local site, now privately owned, Follow signs from Route 7 south to 7A in Ashley Falls to 11 School St. Suggested donation is $20, payable at the door. A silent auction will feature local art and other treats. In addition, Sheffield mums will be for sale.</p>
<p>	The </font><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="2"><i>Sheffield Times</i></font><font color="#000000" face="Arial" size="2"> has been published since 2001 by the Sheffield Association, a nonprofit organization that is also a sponsor of the annual Sheffield in Celebration festival in September. The Sheffield Association was founded to foster communication among the people, businesses and organizations of Sheffield and Ashley Falls, Massachusetts.</p>
